Vice President, Supply Chain

The VP, Supply Chain is responsible for creating a sourcing/purchasing/distribution strategy that leverages spend across the business with a focus on total cost and without sacrificing quality and service levels. Must meet financial performance expectations, exceed customer requirements and create value for business partners while developing a proactive, results-oriented team and facilitating continuous process improvement.


  • Provides strategic planning for short and long-term procurement of key materials, ensuring cost efficient supply of critical materials
  • Develops preferred supplier and strategic alliances with select suppliers to reduce costs, guarantee quality and performance, provide access to best resources and assure preferential treatment
  • Selects potential suppliers, conducts supply negotiations and establishes and monitors supply agreements both domestic and abroad
  • Reduce costs by establishing contracts and blanket agreements and leveraging Company’s purchase power for raw materials, capital equipment, MRO and administrative services
  • Ensures the necessary controls, budgets, policies and procedures are in place to optimize Purchasing’s contribution to the Company’s business plan through effective utilization of purchasing resources
  • Develops, motivates and challenges key personnel to assure a competitive advantage in purchasing
  • Develops recommendations and maintains necessary internal procedures for purchasing to provide service, cost efficiency and optimal production efficiency
  • Participates in re-evaluating and recommending policies for reducing the cost of goods and services
  • Coordinates purchasing activities with Plan Managers, leveraging purchasing strategies to reduce cost
  • Performing all other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or related field,
  • 10+ years’ experience in sourcing, materials management or purchasing/procurement within manufacturing or related industry is required
  • Extenive MRP knowledgeable (JD Edwards or SAP)
  • Maintains a JIT philosophy, minimizing inventory cost
  • 5+ years management required
  • Strong analytical skills and negotiating skills necessary
  • Ability to travel as required by the position
  • Ability to manage employees
