Vice President Product Engineering

We are a manufacturer of various types of OTC Care, Personal Care & Home Care Products. Our product lines include Baby, Cosmetic & Wipes as well as Detergents make up a large portion of our product portfolio.


The position requires a highly motivated & ambitious level 5 leader that can take us from good to great in the area of launching new products. We have been growing and continue to grow at a rapid pace, and we are looking for someone that can ensure new products are commercialized properly specifically in the area of Packaging & Bill Of Materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Experienced in packaging types, especially PET & HDPE Bottles, Caps, Film (used for baby wipes), corrugated, folding cartons, etc.
  • Ensure all new items are launched in packaging that is approved for the product as well as the shipping of the product.
  • Ability to create die lines for flexible packaging that ensure proper fit for contents being packaged
  • Initiating experimental manufacturing orders (EMO) to ensure product can run on existing manufacturing assets.
  • Team player and work well with cross functional departments, as this is key for success.
  • Ability to work with product engineering as we are in a high growth mode as such multitude of new products are being launched weekly.
  • The position requires the creation of an exchange where challenges and opportunities are solved with a strong external collaboration with large fortune 500 packaging suppliers & using their resources to help in our mission to have zero product and or freight defects due to packaging.
  • Assist the QA Group in effective manufacturing, pilot and scale up optimization and transfer to the manufacturing group with efficient interface with the validation support group as needed.
  • Facilitate design phase of production projects, including setting up meetings, gathering information from all stakeholders, and recapping and distributing information
  • Responsible for creating initial plans working with assigned project leaders, monitoring, coordinating, and driving activities, orchestrating periodic cross-functional project team meetings, actively managing project risks and contingencies, and provides period project updates to executive team
  • New product development initiation/planning
  • Responsible for driving, coordinating, and contributing to the product definition and project planning activities
  • Support product management/systems engineering efforts to generate market and system requirements specifications
  • Guide activities for initial phase/gate reviews encompassing requirements, concept/feasibility analysis, and planning including resource and cost estimates and schedules
  • New product development execution
  • Generate and maintain project schedules and budgets and compiles project status reports, including key performance indicators, for periodic management review
  • Orchestrate periodic cross-functional project meetings/reviews to provide high degree of coordination amongst all disciplines
  • Actively assess project technical, resource, and schedule risk and develops contingency plans to support project success
  • Ensure all project deliverables are completed such as requirements, drawings, design specifications and other internal and customer documentation for new products and systems
  • New product development release to manufacturing/production & endgame
    Ensure engineering, manufacturing, packaging, supply chain, etc. ready for release to manufacturing
  • Coordinate phase/gate reviews to transition from product development/verification phases to manufacturing
  • Coordinate release readiness reviews with manufacturing operation and field operations teams
  • Drive project closure activities including ensuring all acceptance criteria & project objectives are met, final project audits, close out of all development & QA activities, archival of project documentation, etc.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree related discipline
  • 8+ years’ experience in project management
  • 5+ years in creating die lines for new products
  • 8+ years talent in Bill Of Material creation & management
  • 5+ years’ experience designing for manufacturing and cost
  • Extensive new product development project management skills with the ability to work with functional managers to balance scope, resources, investment, cogs, risks and time-to-market
  • Extremely proactive approach to managing complex projects and ability to adapt quickly and assess changing priorities
  • PMP and/or MBA preferred
  • Excellent conflict resolutions, negotiation and problem solving skills
  • Must have strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required
