Senior Cost Accountant - Manufacturing

The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for developing, implementing, and assisting in the daily operations of maintaining the costs of the company. The manager will initiate efficient procedures toward maximizing profitability by maintaining a high level of efficiencies. The cost accountant will be able to produce timely monthly cost reports, update costs on new products and produce gross profit reports, and work with the VP of Finance and CFO in analyzing the cost variances and standard gross profit to actual. Responsibilities:

  • Review standard costs and actual costs for inaccuracies and variance
  • Update standards costs in part maintenance files
  • Monitor and review direct material price changes and impact on standard inventory cost.
  • Develop and monitor manufacturing overhead rates in a multi plant environment
  • Determine direct labor efficiency by plant and production line
  • Prepare cost of goods sold, purchase price variance, and absorption calculation as part of the monthly closing
  • Responsible for margin analysis, and tracing back costs to underlying origin
  • Report on margins by product and product line
  • Prepare monthly inventory reports by product, plant or distribution center
    Monitor and  review obsolete/slow moving  inventory and reserve requirements
    Report break even analysis by product, and factories
  • Annual physical inventory and monthly cycle count adjustments
  • Provide inventory, cost data and support in annual Independent Audit review
  • Transition to JD Edwards ERP system from current operating system
    Special projects

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
  • 5 - 10 years manufacturing cost accounting
  • Multi-plant accounting a plus
  • JD Edwards experience a major plus
  • Microsoft¬† Excel experience a must
