Logistics Data Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform transportation network optimization studies.
  • Manage monthly scorecard reporting of transportation metrics for service, quality, and spend.
  • Generate cost benefit analysis for operations re-engineering projects.
  • Analyze shifts, spikes, and trends on transportation scorecards to generate cost savings initiatives.
  • Utilize software applications (SQL Server, Access, Excel) to develop department-wide tools for transportation reporting metrics.
  • Adapt and collaborate best practices with company divisions to achieve supply chain alignment and best practice methodology.
  • Execute quantitative analysis to solve problems, overcome constraints and measure the impact of project initiatives.
  • Perform analytics and cost studies in support of carrier negotiations and rate proposals.
  • Support EDI shipment level detail from our suppliers to our data warehouses.
  • Reliably manage weekly/monthly reports for: service, bi-weekly updates, monthly business reviews, staff meetings, etc.
  • Collaborate with third party freight payment company.
  • Prepare analysis on shipment level bills to ensure contract compliance on all carriers.
  • Develop new metrics to drive best practice methodology for cost, service and quality.
  • Generate budget analysis and monthly reporting of operational and financial metrics.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience concentrating in transportation optimization (strong internship or co-op experience also considered).
  • Bachelor’s degree in business related discipline required (logistics, quantitative business analysis, management information systems, or related field of study).
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to analyze and understand a large volume of data.
  • PC, server, and mainframe system familiarity.
  • Excel, Access, SQL and data warehouse familiarity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in a high volume, multi-location distribution environment.
  • Advanced Excel techniques (pivot table, VBA Code, etc).
  • Experience with Visio, MapPoint, CzarLite, Visual Basic, and/or Batchmark a definite plus
  • Demonstrated ability to independently take ownership of initiatives and drive execution.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to apply in communications with management, business partners, co-workers, etc.
  • Works with a sense of urgency and priority.
