Director, Product Management

Brief Summary

  • Directs multiple product categories within Product Management to maximize gross margin, purchase price, and mix (ie; private label) initiatives, revenue growth programs,
  • Accomplish operational cost reductions, Inventory turns,, other asset utilization,
  • Supplier relationship and performance.
  • Drives category 3 year planning and execution.
  • Manages categories to drive highest end user customer value proposition and drives category 3 year planning and execution
  • Develops and oversees implementation of effective channel and end user pricing strategies and merchandising.
  • Negotiates major (strategic) supplier partnerships and arrangements.
  • Acts as key liaison between the businesses and the sales team, as well as other cross functional areas.
  • Regularly communicates business plans, gains critical cross functional input, and drives alignment on product line planning and prioritization to other key areas of organization.
  • Works other groups to develop and implement tactical and strategic plans.
  • Assists management in the formulation of product strategies for acquisitions.
  • Develops future leaders within and outside of reporting line as future successors.
  • Participates in or leads key dept and company cross functional teams
  • Complete understanding and execution of product segment(s): Which customers segments drive share, how they buy (channels), methods (web, cc, etc…), and values of each, How these products are used by customers (all applications- production, MRO, OEM, etc…), Identification and planning for strongest profitable growth opportunities, short and long term
  • Maximize global sourcing opportunities- quality, cost, currency,


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or the equivalent
  • Minimum of seven years product management/business development
  • Minimum of seven years management experience
  • Strong leadership, team building, and negotiation skills are required.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills are also required.
